As a painter, Connie Quigg enjoys working with color, specifically intimate marks and layers of color. Connie has been experimenting and combining her intimate approach to color with representational images reflective of the changes in her life. It’s important to me to create works of art that make you feel good, bringing healing energies into the home. I seek to reveal the wonder behind all that you love, to help you rejoice in the mystery of life. I paint the spirit behind your most treasured relationships and experiences.

Using oil painting glazing techniques I put down layers of color, this layering becomes a way for me to reveal the underlying patterns of nature, to make the invisible nature of things visible. It’s a way of helping to dance with the mysteries. Impressionists paint the interaction of light with matter. Because I paint the play of light at the magnitudes of outer space as well as cellular and sub-atomic levels I call my work, “quantum impressionism.” May it make visible all that you love about the world.

“Lindenoak’s work is simultaneously religious and revolutionary, spiritual and political.”

"It’s my goal as an artist to take complex subjects – mainly plants, plant systems, and landscapes – and make clarifying representations of them that balance abandon with control. If I can make a painting, object or photograph that feels simple while retaining some of its subject’s essential character and mystery, then by my measure I have succeeded with that piece. Part of my process is expressive and part of it is restrained. By balancing personal gesture against a limited palette and a formal approach to composition, I make organic work with a modern sensibility that is relaxed, clear and whole."

Laura Tyler is an American artist who works in painting, sculpture and photography. She is also the producer and director of the documentary film, Sister Bee. Her works, inspired by the plant/animal relationships that give landscape its texture, have shown at private, non-profit and university galleries across the United States, and she travels nationally to speak about her art at conferences, colleges and film screenings. Raised in Maine, Laura earned a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston before settling in Boulder, Colorado where she lives and works today. lauratyler.com Email: Laura@LauraTyler.com

Top two photos: 100 Flowers is a series of 5″ x 4″ paintings based on gesture drawings of botanical subjects abstracted and painted in encaustic and ink on panel.

Bottom three photos: Comb Object, Flying Geese is a pendant constructed of bee comb and wood modeled after the traditional American quilt pattern, flying geese.

I work primarily in watercolor and encaustic. Have also done some sculpture in copper. Much of my work is an attempt to distill beautiful shapes, forms and textures in nature and the city. Often in watercolor landscapes, I’m trying also to capture a certain mood, to evoke in the viewer a response to what has moved me. My early watercolors were more realistic; later work has become more abstract, as I attempt to further distill what I most love in the scene. In geoencaustics, the tactile qualities of the wax invite the viewer to identify more strongly with the surface forms in rocks and landscapes. At this life stage I’m interested in passing on memories of previous generations of my family.
